·      Do you know God is mighty to save?
 
·      Do you believe God has/is calling you by name?
 
·      Are you experiencing God appointing you to your position?
 
...not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 
2 Timothy 1:9b
 
Do you really believe God’s grace has nothing to do with you and everything to do with Him?
 
God created time to bring order and definition to the universe.
 
but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: 
2 Timothy 1:10
 
Do you see the power of the gospel?
 
What else is the gospel bringing to light?

Coastal Christian | Where is the Power of God in This? | 2 Timothy 1:9-10 | Pastor Matt Stokes
 
 
1.    While reading 2 Timothy 1:9-10, Pastor Matt was presenting Paul’s proclamation of the Power of God that we see in the way that He saved us, called us, and has called us with a holy calling. “Holy calling” actually refers to a specific invitation to an "appointing," a calling to a specific position/occupation. 
 
2.    What are the general holy callings that all of us have? What are the specific holy callings of those of us within our Connect Group? Within Coastal Christian?
 
3.    Have everyone in your small group take out a slip of paper and write down, in 25 words or less, just what they believe, the essential truth, the essence, and basic message of the gospel to be.
 
4.    When most of us think about the power of the gospel, we of course, think about salvation. But when we look at these verses in scripture, this chapter in the letter of 2 Timothy, & even the whole New Testament, what do we see the gospel having the power to do?
 
5.    Theologically, we are seeing that the message of the gospel has “brought life and immortality to light.” At the same time, practically, experientially, what is the gospel bringing to light in your life, in this season? 
 
6.    The message from this past Sund­­ay is entitled “Where is the Power of God in This?” Knowing the backstory of the great apostle Paul’s imprisonment, his deplorable conditions, the impending death sentence on his life, Paul is still proclaiming the power of God is at work. Can you see the power of God at work in the midst of your own difficult circumstances? Could you please encourage others by sharing this with your Connect Group?
