“And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. ‘And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.’ But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.” — 1 Peter 3:13-15

Biology is the study of complicated things that give the appearance of having been designed for a purpose. Yet the living results of natural selection overwhelmingly impress us with the appearance of design as if by a master watchmaker, giving the illusion of design and planning. Animals give the appearance of having been designed by a theoretically sophisticated and practically ingenious physicist or engineer. We have seen that living things are too improbable and too beautifully 'designed' to have come into existence by chance. — Richard Dawkins, The Blindwatchmaker.
