4 Truths in the Triumph Discussion questions Printable Copy
1. Read Mark 1:1-11. The first truth in the triumph is that "Jesus chooses to partner with us." We are told that these two disciples are to tell the owner of the donkey that the Lord has need of his donkey. This makes for an interesting question of application: Although the Lord does not need anything, where does HE desire to partner with you in His redemptive purpose in your life? In the lives of others?
2. The second Truth in the Triumph is that we should "say what Jesus says." We are told that these disciples say, "just as" Jesus commanded them (proportionately, equal in degree, in accordance with).
Can you give an example of when you said just what Jesus said? Or you did exactly what Jesus said to do? What was the result of that? Can someone in your Connect Group give a hypothetical example, and then you respond with just what Jesus said, or just with what the Scriptures would tell you to do? This will help when we have these encounters in the near future.
3. The third Truth in the Triumph is that "your strength will submit to God's sovereignty." Would you open up with your group and talk about a time, like this donkey, when you had to potentially buck off, mule-kick, hee-haw in your heart or de-saddle the Savior from your soul. What lessons did you learn from fighting the sovereign will of God with your own strength?
4. The fourth Truth in the Triumph, is that "some of us are still in danger." We are in danger of missing (just like those on this first Palm Sunday) the true intentions of Jesus in our lives.
Can you share with the group an intention that you know Jesus has for you, that would be considered a recent revelation? Initially, you know, Jesus, wanted you to experience His salvation. That being said, what is He revealing to you, now?
